Tarantas Crianza

by Nannette Eaton on April 14, 2009

“We don’t grow older, we grow riper.” — Pablo Picasso

I love this wine. This is an easy drinking red that can lead to serious overindulgence and naughty behavior.  Wine Harlots speak from experience in these matters. It pleases me on many levels. Tarantas is an organic Spanish tempranillo/cabernet sauvignon blend. The color is a gorgeous ruby-red. It’s a delicious taste of ripe black fruit and a toasty component from the American oak barrels. Joy in a glass.

The packaging on this wine is simply striking. A black bottle with a stark black label with a red Taurus symbol. I love giving this as a gift, whether it be a single bottle, or several in a basket, it draws raves upon receipt, and again when the wine is drunk. If you have astrology buffs or Taurus’ in your life, this wine is a no brainer.

The food pairing should be meaty and rare. I have enjoyed lamb chops, hamburgers and rib-eye steaks with this crianza.

The alcohol content is 13%. Cork closure. The price point is about $12 USD and can be located at Whole Foods. The wine is imported by Natural Wine Merchants.

The musical pairing for this is “Viva la Vida”  by Coldplay from their album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.
