St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc 2007

by Nannette Eaton on August 20, 2009

“The flavor of wine is like delicate poetry.”  —  Louis Pasteur

A Wine Harlot secret confession: (tiny voice) I’m not the biggest fan of sauvignon blanc.  Sure, the famous and niche ones are stellar, but I have “Goldilocks and the Three Little Bears Syndrome” they’re either “too-over-the-top-in-your-face-tropical-fruit-bowl” or the polar opposite, “no nose, no flavor, no finish.”  It’s hard to find one that’s “just right.”

Look no further.  St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc rocks it.  The nose on this is fantastic.  This wine is beautifully integrated with lush papaya, mango, banana, pineapple flavors.  The acid balance is perfect.  Sauvignon blanc marries well with feta, so in the sweltering heat, pair this with a crisp summer salad of Feta, Pear & Watercress.

The details.  13.5% alcohol.  Cork closure.  Appellation Napa.  The suggested retail is $23 USD; this is widely distributed wine, with actual retail prices in the $18-22 USD range.  This was sample provided by the winery.

The music match is “Look No Further” by Dido from the album Safe Trip Home.  If you want a Sauvignon Blanc that rocks your world, look for further, this one is just right.
