Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut Yellow Label

Happy Birthday Harlot!

“A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman’s birthday but never remembers her age.”  —  Robert Frost

Happy Birthday to the Head Harlot!  To begin the celebration, we chose a classic, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut Yellow Label.  The color is pale straw, with a delcious apple, creamy, toasty flavors.  The delicate bubbles go on for days.  Even folks who eschew wine line up for Veuve Clicquot.  It’s a celebration in a glass.

The specifics:  12% alcohol.  Cork closure.  A blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes from Reims, France.  This sparkler is available globally, with a wide variation of prices from $36-46 USD.  This was purchased for $44 from Cardiff Seaside Market.

We paired it with food magician Christopher Kostow’s (Meadowood Napa Valley) Curried Shrimp Salad with Grilled Watermelon to start.

The music pairing is another classic: “Golden Slumbers” from the BeatlesAbbey Road.  Here’s to a golden year for Wine Harlots.  Cheers!
