“It is a wretched taste to be gratified with mediocrity when the excellent lies before us.”  —  Isaac Disraeli

2008 Nova Vineyard Zinfandel

This was a delicious quaff.  It has the intense jammy and spicy flavors you expect in a zinfandel, but has a luxurious refined quality that elevates this bottle of juice to realm of excellent.  As a bonus, this was still delicious on the third day after it was opened, perfect for you thrifty harlots who don’t finish a bottle in a sitting (we wouldn’t know, but we’ve heard it happens).  Pair this with your favorite bowl of chili and curl up in front of a roaring fire for a perfect autumn evening.

The details:  14.5% alcohol.  The wine are is sourced from grapes planted in the 1960’s from the Nova Vineyard in Kelseyville, Lake County, California,. The vineyard is situated on an ancient alluvial riverbed near the base of the Mount Konocti volcano. This is a California Certified Organically Farmed (CCOF) wine, sealed with natural cork certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

The suggested retail price is $20.00 and can be obtained directly from the X winery website or X Winery website or check here for a list of national distributors.   Sample kindly provided by X Winery.

The music pairing is “Ordinary” from darkblueworld from The Harrett Sessions album, available at CDBaby or iTunes.  Don’t settle for ordinary.  Drink excellent.
