Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut

by Nannette Eaton on December 29, 2009

“We shall find peace. We shall hear the angels, we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.”   —  Anton Chekhov

As a Seattle natives, we’ve been loving this domestic sparkler for years. It’s a stealth value that rivals much pricer quaffs.   The Wine Trials found that 70% of blind tasters preferred Domaine Ste. Michelle to Dom Pérignon, and 85% preferred Domaine Ste. Michelle to Veuve Clicquot. Whether or not you’ll give up your premium Champagne for it, Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut is the Wine Harlots go-to sparkling wine for large parties, it’s a crowd pleaser, it even fakes out hardcore wine snobs.   That said, it carries the tackiest label we’ve seen in a while, so it perfect for situations where the pour is done out of eyeview of your guests.

The price ranges from $8-12 USD, (depending on how much the taxman needs love in your jurisdiction) and can be purchased virtually anywhere in the US. Sparkling wine is the best match for the unlimited diversity in hors d’oeuvres, and we love it paired with baked brie.

The music match is “Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends” from Fall Out Boy’s album From Under The Cork Tree. Here’s a Champagne toast to you, Wine Harlots’ true friends. Cheers!
