Quivira Petite Sirah 2007

by Nannette Eaton on January 4, 2010

A truly elegant taste is generally accompanied with excellency of heart. – Henry Fielding

All of the Quivira catalog of wines I’ve sampled are refined and elegant. The Quivira Petite Sirah Wine Creek Ranch, Dry Creek Valley 2007 is no exception with lush berry and stone fruit tones. The wine is wonderfully integrated and immensely satisfying. Buy a couple of bottles of this excellent juice, I can pretty much guarantee a single bottle won’t be enough, especially if you’re sharing your elegant taste with others.

Steven Canter, the Quivira winemaker suggests pairing this beauty with a braised Moroccan Spice Crusted Lamb Shoulder.

The details: 14.8% alcohol. Cork closure.  100% petite sirah from the Wine Creek Ranch, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma. The wines are organic and Demeter Certified biodynamic. The retail price is $26, available directly from the tasting room or the Ouivera website. This wine was an industry trade sample generously facilitated and provided by Folsom & Associates.

The music match is Chris Isaak’s “Can’t Do A Thing (To Stop Me)” from the album San Francisco Days, ’cause you can’t stop me from polishing of the Quivira and opening another.
