Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rosé Champagne

by Nannette Eaton on February 14, 2010

“I love thee,
I love thee,
‘Tis all that I can say
It is my vision in the night,
My dreaming in the day.”

—  Thomas Hood

How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rosé is a dream of a Champagne, a fantasy come to life.  The color is the first blush of love, a rosy, coppery, salmon hue.  The bubbles are pin-point fine and the mousse is delightful. The wine is an elegant indulgence with refreshing effervescence.  The Champagne is perfectly balanced, the flavors are well-integrated with hints of strawberry and raspberry tones.  The perfect pairing is Blini with Three Caviars.

The details: 12% alcohol.  The cuvee is a blend of 60% pinot noir, 30% pinot meunier and 10% chardonnay, from Reims in the Champagne-Ardenne region in France.  The actual retail varies widely based on your jurisdiction, it can be as low as $37 USD from KL Wines in California up to $55 in places where the taxman needs extra love.  The wine is imported by Ste Michelle Wine Estates.  This was a media sample kindly provided by Millissime.

The music match is the incomparable Nina Simone with the hypnotic “I Put a Spell on You.”  Grab a bottle (or two) of Nicolas Feuillatte, put on a little Nina Simone, serve a little caviar and recite a little poetry, and your daydreams will be realized.
