Three Coins Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

by Nannette Eaton on February 16, 2010

“What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do. The needs are great, and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”  — Mother Teresa

This is a wonderful wine.  It’s has a beautiful burgundy hue, and the nose is indescribably amazing.  Give the Three Coins Cabernet Sauvignon an hour or two to breathe and open up.   It has a berry-cherry flavor with a hint of leather with nice tannins.  Nice legs.  The perfect pairing is a food with a high fat content.  Beef is a classic pairing, but we choose a Bacon, Goat Cheese & Vidalia Onion Tart, and it was inspired.

The details: 14.4% alcohol content.  Cork closure.  Appellation: Napa Valley.  The price is $30 USD with the case price of  $260, which works out to just under $22 bottle, a screaming deal for a wine of this caliber.  Available directly through the Lawer Family Wines website.  This wine was an industry trade sample generously provided by the winery.

The music match is “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton from the album Slowhand. If you didn’t get the coin in your King Cake, pick up Three Coins and drink something wonderful tonight.
