Stepping Stone Red Hills Lake County Grenache 2007

by Nannette Eaton on March 30, 2010

“The block of granite which was an obstacle in the pathway of the weak becomes a stepping-stone in the pathway of the strong” Thomas Carlyle

Cornerstone is well-known for their amazingly delicious cabernets which are priced north of a Grant.  If that price-point is too steep, take a step toward lusciousness with the Stepping Stone Red Hills Lake County Grenache 2007, for the cost of a single Jackson.  This is a delicious quaff with fresh fruit and strong pepper predominating with a savory spice finish.  The perfect pairing for this beauty would be a Pepper Steak with Chives.

The details:  15.2% alcohol.  Cork closure.  Appellation:  Red Hills.  It’s primarily grenache, with a touch of zinfandel.  The suggested retail is $20 USD can be located at select retailers or purchased directly from Cornerstone.  This was a media sample generously provided by the winery.

The music match is “Stepping Stone” by Duffy from the album Rockferry.  Wine Harlots will always be your stepping stone, if it’s Cornerstone!
