Cleavage Creek Tracy Hills Merlot-Shiraz 2007

by Nannette Eaton on April 1, 2010

“Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave.”  —  Rainer Maria Rilke

Cleavage Creek Tracy Hills Merlot-Shiraz is a brash little wine to start.  It was a fiery wine, almost too aggressive, but give this baby a little time in the glass — let it decant for a few hours or run through an aerator –- Wine Harlots tried it the second day and it was magnificent.  The deep lush jammy raspberries, blackberries and black cherry with a hypnotic dense purple hue.  Smooth and spicy on the finish.  Utterly delicious.  The perfect pairing is the Gourmet Worrier’s Moroccan Serpent Pie.

The details: 14.9% alcohol.  Cork closure.  The wine is a blend of 67% shiraz and 33% merlot sourced from the Tracy Hills appellation.  The suggested retail is $18 USD, with 10% of the gross sales being donated to breast cancer research.  The wine can be purchased directly from the Cleavage Creek website.  This was a media sample generously provided by the winery.

The music match is “Dragon” by Tori Amos from the album American Doll Posse.  Whether you’re a dragon or a princess, Wine Harlots raise a glass to the beautiful and brave.
