Foppiano Estate Rosé 2009

by Nannette Eaton on June 21, 2010

“One swallow does not make a summer.”  — Aristotle

Here’s a great wine to celebrate the first day of summer, and will serve you well into the sweltering dog-days of August and September.  A rosé is a rosé is a rosé, and the Foppiano Estate Rosé 2009 is perfect wine for summer.  The raspberry color is enchanting, the subtle flavor is of those small French organic strawberries, with the essence of orange blossom.  The perfect pairing is Prosciutto with Melon and a plate of your favorite cheeses.

The details: 14.2% alcohol.  Stelvin® screw-top closure.  Appellation: Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California.  Varietal: 45% pinot and 55% petite sirah.  The suggested retail is $15.00 USD and can be purchased directly from the Foppiano Vineyard website.  This was a media sample kindly facilitated by the Barn Group.

The music match is “Unemployed in the Summertime” by the sublime Emiliana Torrini from the fantastic Love in the Time of Science.
