Ikal 1150 Malbec 2007

by Nannette Eaton on February 24, 2011

“Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation.” — Benjamin Franklin

Well, Mr. Franklin, the Wine Harlots must disagree. Our motto is excess is best, so indulging in fine cuisine and libations is our raison d’être. Drinking Ikal 1150 Malbec 2007 will elevate your experience. The color is dense purple ink. The flavors are deep cherry and stone fruits with an herbaceous quality. The tannins are firm and decanting or running the wine through an aerator will show the wine at its best. The perfect pairing is Lamb Stew. The music match is “Elevation” by U2 from the album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind.

The details: 13.5% alcohol. Cork closure. Varietal: malbec. Appellation: Tupungato, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is priced at $25 USD and is available directly through Ikal 1150, or through select distributors. Imported by Frutizia Wine Group. This was a sample generously provided by the winery.
