Lange Twins Sangiovese Rosé 2010

by Nannette Eaton on March 28, 2011

Vitae Summa Brevis
They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
We pass the gate.
They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.

– Ernest Dowson “Vitae Summa Brevis”

Rosés always bring The Harlot back to happy, blissful, carefree summer days (even in the dead of winter) and the Lange Twins Estate Grown Sangiovese Rosé is a wine to stock up on to create your own happy memories. A seriously gorgeous glass of wine. Its color is Schiaparelli shocking pink with subtle strawberry and raspberry notes with gentle acidity.  The perfect pairing is Prosciutto-wrapped Figs or what the San Diego Wine Mafia fondly refers to as Pig & Fig. Fresh figs are preferred, but dried figs will do in a pinch.  The music match is the “Days of Wine & Roses” written by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer and sung by the master of the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra. Put a little Sinatra on, make a tray of Pig & Fig and open a bottle of Lange Twins rosé.  Hurry up! They are not long, the days of wine and rosés. Drink up!

The details: 13.5% alcohol.  Screw-cap closure.  Varietal: sangiovese. Appellation: Lodi. Available directly from Lange Twins for $13 USD (or $10.40 if you are a club member) or from select merchants. The wine was a media sample generously provided by the winery.
