(Red)

Welcome to Philanthropy Thursday, where we profile people, products, and organizations that showcase the best nature of humankind.

Project2 (Red)

Say what you will about (Project) Red, but the Wine Harlots love it. It doesn’t replace charitable contributions, of course, but it brings awareness to a social issues, and forces our consumer culture to think about what we are buying and why.  One of the Wine Harlots mantras is “drink your values.”  We support family farming and winemakers and are proponents of spending your money where it matters to you.

In that spirit, preeminent Australian winemakers, Penfolds, has partnered with (Red)™ to contribute a portion of proceeds on its Thomas Hyland and Koonunga Hill wines to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Buy (Red). Drink red. Drink well. Do well.

Maybe (Red)™ is a pose, but Wine Harlots regard it as a stance.  We believe you get the corporations you demand.  Businesses are a money making ventures, and by voicing your values by purchasing (or not purchasing, as the case may be) you send a clear message that you require responsible corporate citizens to earn your money.  Money talks.  Let your voice be heard.
