Here’s a great red for summer (and be sure to buy enough of it so it can linger on through autumn). Hecht & Bannier Languedoc 2007 is blackberries, cherries and currents with herbal and pepper notes, dusky and warm as a summer evening. The perfect pairing is Herb & Mustard Crusted Venison Medallions. The music match is the perfect jangly summer song “I Didn’t See it Coming” from Belle & Sebastian from the album Write About Love.

The details: 14.2% alcohol. Cork closure. Appellation: Languedoc-Roussillon. Varietal: syrah 80%, grenache 10%, carignan 10%. Made with organic grapes as certified by Ecocert. Suggested retail $17 USD. Imported by Frederick Wildman. This was a media sample generously facilitated by Millissime.
