“The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.” — Henry Miller

If you’re not aware of the wine revolution going on in Temecula, you haven’t lived. There’s winemaking going on in them hills, and it’s divine, serene, joyous and yes, drunkenly alive. One of the stars in Temecula is Leonesse Cellars and their cabernets make the Wine Harlots pretty joyous. The Leonesse Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 is a dense, rich glass of blackberries, black currant, boysenberries and dark cherries with spicy and earthy notes. The perfect pairing is Mustard-Crusted Beef with Thyme Butter. The music match is “So Alive” from Ryan Adams from the album Rock & Roll. Go ahead, live a little. Drink Leonesse.

The details: 13.9% alcohol. Cork closure. Appellation: Temecula. Varietals: cabernet sauvignon 75%, cabernet franc 13%, merlot 8% and petit verdot 4%. The wine was a 2006, which is not longer available; however you can still snag the 2007 which is available at a suggested retail price of $39 USD (and just over $29 if you are a club member). This was purloined from the wine cellar of Cuvee Corner. (Yes, it’s good to have friends!)
