Even though the Wine Harlots mantra is “trust your local wine merchant,” we have always been huge fans of Costco. Even though as Singletons we don’t need thirty-two gallons of soy sauce or fifty pounds of black beans, there are plenty of goodies on the aisles at Costco that liberate us from our currency. Depending on your location, the Costco Wine Department can be mind-blowing. They always have great values on basic wines, but we’ve seen premier Champagnes and highly prized cabernets available at seriously attractive prices.
Here’s the tip. Even though Costco is a membership club, if you are only purchasing wine (or having a prescription at the pharmacy filled) you don’t have to be a Costco member. Wine Harlots say save the Grant in membership fees and spend it on wine! This money saving tip comes from our friends at Cuvee Corner. CORRECTION: The alcohol laws in each state and country vary. In the United States the purchase of alcohol without a membership is valid for the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Texas.
