The Wine Harlots Wish List: Gift Giving Suggestions 2011

by Nannette Eaton on December 13, 2011

Besides our annual wishes for world peace, ending hunger and fair trade for wine, here’s a few of the shiny trinkets that have caught the shallow Wine Harlots fancy this holiday season. We promise to be good next year Santa!

What Southern California beach babe worth her salt wouldn’t want Santa to bring her a shiny new beach cruiser? And in Wine Harlots Style, in addition to a wicker basket, we require a custom water bottle and luggage rack.

Can’t you just see us biking around town, picking up produce and flowers at the farmer’s market, a baguette and a bottle of wine in the basket?

Toms donates a pair of shoes to a needy child in a developing country for each pair you purchase. If that weren’t enough, they are super-comfy, and the Shine-On Black Sequined Classics ($59 USD) are what we want shining under the tree this year.

Toms just launched a sunglass line, which in the same theme as the Toms shoes, provides vision care for the needy for each purchase made. The Harlots are coveting the Toms Classics 101 ($135) which has the retro vibe of a Wayfarer with modern twist of contemporary stripes with over a dozen color choices – we love the purple tipped ones.

We love these gloves! Exactly what every techie or social media goddess needs to survive winter with style. Talbots Leopard-print Touch Gloves ($39) with EchoTouch® fabric on the thumb and index finger allows you to navigate your smart phone while keeping your digits toasty-warm.

How will a Wine Harlot know that it’s “wine o’clock” without the proper timepiece? We’ll never be late for happy hour if we are sporting the Movado Bold ($350) watch with the purple dot (reminiscent of a grape, no?) at twelve o’clock. Pick yours directly through Movado or by the magic of Macy’s.

In our stocking we are hoping for a personalized Giles & Brother Skinny Railroad Spike Cuff ($55) bracelet with the inscription “harlot.” Edgy, historic and modern all at the same time.

We are tremendous fan-girls of the work being done by Falling Whistles in their advocacy against child soldiers in the Congo. The Harlots already have the Original whistle ($34) but are making our holiday mission to secure the Falling Whistles The Gold ($104) necklace. Doing good never looked so glamorous.

Craving music while you travel without suffering earbud fatigue? Problem solved. The sound masters at Geneva Sound Systems just created their smallest system yet – the XS ($250) that provides rich sound for your hotel room, dorm room or office.

If you hate morning as much as the Wine Harlots do, you’re jonsing for your espresso fix at the crack of dawn (or the crack of 10:30 — it’s a hard life — so sue me.) Mainlining home-brew has never been easier with Nespresso & DeLonghi Lattissima Plus ($400). Professional grade espresso at home without the messy clean-up. It almost makes The Harlots happy to wake up. Available at Sur la Table, Williams-Sonoma, and other fine retailers.

Even if you scowl at sunrise, you’ll smile when you drink your morning beverage of these whimsical teacups from Anthropologie ($10).

Wine Harlots wish you and yours the happiest holiday season. Cheers!
