Flea Market at Saint Michel

“Our happiest moments as tourists always seem to come when we stumble upon one thing while in pursuit of something else.” — Lawrence Block

What to do in Bordeaux? Clearly, wine is the name of the game. But when you want an escape from your enological endeavors, Wine Harlots say grab a beer, pull up a chair, unfurl the map and make a plan. Wine Harlots are big fans of wandering, pick a destination and wend your way there. With our impaired directional abilities, sometimes (ok, oftentimes) it takes two or three excursions for the destination to be reached, but it’s really about the journey, not the arrival.

Sunday in Bordeaux is a day to relax over your café, croissant and newspaper. If you’re feeling really motivated, saunter over to the gothic gem, Basilique Saint Michel, where on Sundays the flea market is in full force. Here’s a few things you might see when you go:

I could check this, right?

Camel rides. We are not in Kansas, anymore.

I could totally fit this into my carry-on.

Books. Awesome in any language.
