Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava

You can have any color as long as it’s black.” – Henry Ford
Is cava the new black? It is for the Wine Harlots. Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava is a fresh and fun sparkler. With its distinctive black bottle, it’s a classic. Affordable and available pretty much anywhere alcohol is sold – as reliable and dependable as your Little Black Dress – the go-to beverage when you don’t want to over think your drink. The Freixenet Cordon Negro is crisp and bright with flavors of apple and citrus. Perfect pairing? Try an upscale fish and chips — Tempura Cod with Japanese Sweet Potato Fries, the acidity in the cava is amazing at cutting through the oil of the fish and chips. The music match? It’s “Black Celebration” by Depeche Mode from the album of the same name. Have an everyday celebration with basic black – with Freixenet Cordon Negro in your glass.

The details: 12% alcohol. Cork closure. Grapes: Cavaare Macabeo 35%, Xarel-lo 25% and Parellada 40%. Appellation: D.O. Cava, Penedes, Spain. Price: $8-12 USD with wide global distribution. This was provided as a media sample by the Freixenet Group.

I went to their winery in Spain, had a blast! Never really heard of cava before going there two years ago and now I’m hooked!

Hi Eileen!

I’ll be traveling to Spain in April and will be touring Freixnet — I can’t wait!
I’m glad you had a great time — but really, drinking cava in Spain? Really a no-brainer for a good time!

All the best,

Oh my gosh have fun, so jealous. Dying to go back. There cute little gift shop has fin things to take home too – mini cava bottles! I can’t find those in the states anywhere. I did have some on New Years though, almost as good as being there 🙂
