Ravenswood Vintners Blend Petite Sirah 2010

You don’t need to get all evil if you’re suffering from dearth of coin, you need to crafty and savvy. Wine Harlots motto is: thirsty, but thrifty, so we know how stretch a dollar ‘till it screams. Ravenswood, famous for their zinfandels (and their motto, no wimpy wines) delivers solid value with their Vintners Blend line. They are reliably dependable wines, consistent and delicious. All of the wines in the series are priced at about a Hamilton, and they are widely distributed so you can easily find them. Cheap and cheerful wines for gals on a budget. Ravenswood Vintners Blend Petite Sirah is deep purple with loads of blackberries and plums with warm vanilla.

What to pair with the Ravenswood? After spending your hard-earned cash on wine, you need to economize on the foodstuffs. Top Ramen is the classic broke-until-payday meal. Twitter-friend Jeanie Walker suggests dressing up the ramen with a few snips of green onion, a little ginger paste, chili paste and minced Spam sautéed in soy. What tunes to spin? You gotta go with “Thrift Shop” from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with vocals from Wanz from the album The Heist. If you haven’t seen the Thrift Shop video, it’s all kinds of awesome.

The details: 13.5% alcohol. Synthetic capsule closure. Appellation: California. Grape: petite sirah. Suggested retail: $10 USD and it’s available through the Amazon wine program, as well as many other retailers. This was a media sample (free wine – score!) provided for editorial consideration.
