Wente Louis Mel Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Wine Harlots highly recommend the Wente Louis Mel Sauvignon Blanc as your summer porch wine. Priced at $13, it provides a lot of value for your money. The wine is crisp and bright with fresh limes and tropical fruit. The flavors aren’t cloying or overpowering like some sauvignon blancs in this price range, but are well integrated and pleasing.

The perfect pairing is the simple and elegant (and very inexpensive) Aglio e Pepe Olio d’Oliva Pasta. The music match is Wente winemaker, Karl Wente’s band, The Front Porch. The selection is “Water on the Rocks” from the album Evermore.

The details: 13% alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Appellation: Livermore Valley. Grape: Sauvignon Blanc. Suggested retail: $13 USD. The wine and the music were provided complementary for editorial consideration in support of the Wente Front Porch Music Series.
