Wine Harlots love wine, but we are also enchanted by the creativity and ingenuity of artisans who use the waste products of wine — corks and bottles — and then reimagine and craft them into purposeful, beautiful and useful items.

RichPeopleThings, a social enterprise located in the Murcia wine region in Spain, has created stunning surfboards constructed out of used wine corks. Due to the custom, hand-crafted nature of the work, the surfboards aren’t cheap. The cost of the boards begin at $2043 (1500€) for a bodyboard and range up to $9533 (7000€) for a 10’ longboard. (Prices are in Euros, the conversion rate at the time of publication was 1€ = $1.36.)

Ha, rich people things sums it up nicely. But for those that could afford this luxury it seems like an awesome product.

In Spain, unemployment is over 25%, and as such they are exploring both beauty and value of other pursuits that cannot to purchased.
