“Once, during Prohibition, I was forced to live for days on nothing but food and water.” — W.C. Fields
Repeal Day is the Wine Harlots favorite holiday. Repeal Day is today, December 5, 1933, the day the 21st Amendment was ratified by the Great State of Utah, repealing the debacle that was the 18thAmendment.
Not only are we big fans of intoxicating liquors, but were are total fools for The Constitution and have a soft spot for the Bill of Rights, the enduring document that allows for modification and amendment when mores change and consciousness’ evolve. It provides a vehicle for grand experiments and the mechanism for correction if the experiments fail. And by anyone’s mark, the Prohibition of alcohol was a grand failure.
Today is the day to freely exercise your Constitutional Rights. Have a drink. Buy a round for a stranger. Pick up a six-pack at the local liquor store. Visit your favorite winery and thank them for their efforts. If you live in a state that does not allow for direct wine shipping, contact your local lawmaker or check with Free the Grapes to see how your voice can make a difference. Cheers!

Very well said, and cheers to both of you!
What a great day to celebrate. I wonder why more wine bloggers like us, don’t talk about it. Without, we would all be out of a job.
Good work ladies.!
Can I just say….I’m not a wine blogger, but blogger of another subject but I LOVE your blog. I don’t always comment but I read every new post and I enjoy it immensely!
