One Day Without Shoes

Welcome to Philanthropy Thursday Monday, where we profile people, products, and organizations that showcase the best nature of humankind.

Join us tomorrow by spending One Day Without Shoes to heighten awareness of the challenging conditions the developing world experiences that we in developed nations take for granted.

Not wearing shoes isn’t just painful, it can be medically dangerous, with the risk of infection from cuts and parasites that can penetrate bare feet. In addition, many schools will not allow children to attend if they do not have shoes. No shoes, no literacy, no fair.

One Day Without Shoes was created by Blake Mycoskie. Mycoskie was in Argentina and saw that the children didn’t have shoes to protect their feet. In response he created TOMS Shoes and One for One. The design of TOMS Shoes are alpargatas, the Argentine version of espadrilles. For each pair of shoes that are purchased, one pair will be donated to a child in a developing country. One for One. Over a million pair of shoes have already been donated. A business model that gives back. Wine Harlots firmly believe in supporting enterprises that share your values.

Wine Harlots will be spending the day without shoes, and we invite you to join us. After spending the entire day without shoes, you may want to buy a pair of TOMS.  Wine Harlots are obsessed with our Glitter TOMS. So fun, and so comfortable. And your purchase provides a pair of shoes for a child without one. One for One, and so much more.

Thanks so much!
I’m a big fan of Tom’s Shoes One-for-One program where you buy a pair of shoes and Tom’s donates a pair of shoes to a child in need in a developing country.

Cheers!
