“We have seen the evil of the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors in our midst; let us try prohibition and see what this will do for us. ” – Thomas Jordan Jarvis
“Prohibition has made nothing but trouble.” – Al Capone
If you’ve spent any time around the Wine Harlots, you know Repeal Day is near and dear to our hearts. Repeal Day occurred on December 5, 1933, when Utah ratified the 21st Amendment, repealing the prohibition against alcohol in the United States, enacted by the 18th Amendment. Popularized by Jeffrey Morgenthaler of Clyde Common in Portland, Repeal Day is the day to celebrate your Constitutional Liberties by getting your drink on and toasting our great nation. For more details, check out RepealDay.org.
For the 75th anniversary celebration in 2008, Wine Harlots made a mix-tape of some of our favorite drinking songs, using the label from a vintage Prescription Form for Medicinal Liquor issued under the National Prohibition Act. If you want to make your own custom labels, click the image above, and download your favorite vintage-style cursive font to personalize the party favor for your next Prohibition party.

Before CSI ruined it, “Who Are You” by The Who is about a pretty nasty bender.
Really?
I didn’t know that — it might make the next mix — Repeal Day Redux!
All the best,
Nannette
This is pretty amazing. Spotifying it NOW.
Kim,

Enjoy the mix.
All the best,
