Wine Harlots are big fans of Wines of Chile. Our first post was a Chilean wine, a sauvignon blanc so elegant I opined, “If this wine was a man, I’d marry him.” A wine-marriage made in heaven, to be sure. When the opportunity to came to partner up with Foods from Chile and Kitchen Play to talk about the upcoming Food from Chile events, I jumped at the chance. I mean, wine is a food, right? In the Wine Harlots World, wine’s not just a food; it’s an entire food group. All joking aside, the cardiovascular benefits of wine are well-known, but recent studies suggest that Chilean wines may offer extra health benefits. In research studies at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, it was found that Chilean red wines contained significantly higher levels of antioxidants than wines from other regions.

On Tuesday, January 29, 2013, Foods from Chile is hosting a Ticket To Chile Twitter Party, at 7:00 pm EST/4:00 pm PST. There will be lots of fun facts shared, and goodie-bags that will be awarded to participants who answer the Foods of Chile factoids correctly during the event. Answers will be sprinkled in the articles of the participating bloggers, including Wine Harlots. (And I can guarantee my question won’t be “what does The Wine Harlot want to marry?”) Follow @FoodsFromChile on Twitter, and use the hashtag #TicketToChile to participate in the action. Register here to sign up for the Ticket to Chile Twitter Party.

The Ticket To Chile Twitter Party is launching the Foods from Chile Next Top Blogger Contest with a grand prize of a United States blogger to travel to Chile and join prominent American food journalists and writers as you eat, drink and write your way through an epic Chilean culinary adventure. The contest is live now, and entries must be in by February 11, 2013. Check out all the contest details and enter at the Foods from Chile website or on Facebook. I haven’t been to Chile, and it’s high on my bucket-list (or would that be barrel-list?) If you have any longing for a trip to South America, give the contest a chance – someone’s going to Chile this spring, and shouldn’t it be you?

The Foods from Chile offers a wide variety of products, from luscious fruit like raspberries, blueberries, cherries and plums to nuts like almonds and walnuts, to shellfish and mussels, as well as my favorite, Wines of Chile. All this talk of food has made me hungry. Join me in the kitchen while I whip up  Pan Seared Chilean Boneless Salmon Filets with Chilean Avocado Remoulade with a drizzle of Chilean Olive Oil. For me, the classic pairing with salmon is pinot noir. And Chile makes some exquisite pinot noir. Pour a glass, and prepare your entry for Foods from Chile Next Top Blogger Contest, it might be the most delicious thing you’ll do this year.
