Blackberry Sage Lemonade

I was at a social media meet-up at The Melting Pot – Gaslamp last week.  It was a great group of people, and the fondue was delicious and super-fun.  A perfect get-together for a group of girlfriends.  I’m obsessed with the Melting Pot Blackberry Sage Lemonade, (the Melting Pot has generously shared [...]

New Age

“Young people are in a condition like permanent intoxication, because youth is sweet and they are growing.”  — Aristotle

Open a bottle of New Age, and you open a bottle of fun.  It’s a sweet, slightly effervescent wine, in either a white or a rosé.  Great for when you’re in the [...]

Klein Beverage Tool

Here’s a perfect gift for your favorite do-it-yourself handyman.  Klein states their Beverage Tool (a.k.a. bottle opener) is “professionally designed and rigorously tested by an expert team to handle both foreign and domestic applications.”  Pair it with a six-pack, and you’ve got a fantastic housewarming gift for the [...]

Seven Daughters

“Beloved, you are my sister, you are my daughter, you are my face; you are me.”   — Toni Morrison

The Seven Daughters wines are fun.  Easy drinking, eminently quaffable; the wines you open when you want to just drink wine, not over-evaluate your beverage.  These are playful little table wines, perfect for big parties [...]

Hey! That’s My Wine!

When you entertain do you have a problem with guests inadvertently swiping other guests wine glasses?  (“Excuse me!  That’s my champagne!”)  To avoid a wine altercation at your next gathering, the savvy hostess uses wine charms to differentiate the glasses.  Which at Wine Harlot [...]

Pipes Cafe

My favorite funky breakfast and lunch spot is Pipes Cafe in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California.  It unpretentious place, a cash-only, meals served on paper plates kind of space.  Where the motto is: “No shirt.  No shoes.  No problem.”  The name of the cafe is derived from Pipes,  a surf-break in Cardiff.

Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2008

“Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory.”  — Albert Schweitzer

Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2008 doesn’t taste like a classic pinot (either old world or new world).  On first pass, I didn’t particularly enjoy it.  It had cherry and cedar notes, and it seemed thin.  On the second day, it was [...]

Fortant de France Malbec 2008

“To sell something, tell a woman it’s a bargain; tell a man it’s deductible.”  –  Earl Wilson

And what a delicious bargain this is!  The Fortant de France Malbec is a gorgeous dark purple with blueberry and tart cherry flavors.  Give it an hour to breathe, and everyone will be happy.  Especially your wallet.  Since you [...]
