Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé

“We came by night to the Fortunate Isles, And lay like fish Under the net of our kisses.”  — Pablo Neruda

The color on the Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé is stunning salmon-rose, like a sunset on the Cape.  The wine is well integrated, with pin-point bubbles, with a citrus notes with minerality and toasty finish.  A really elegant wine.  The perfect pairing would be Poached Salmon.

The details:  12.4% alcohol.  The grapes are 90% pinotage and 10% pinot noir from Stellenbosch, South Africa.  The suggested retail is $30 USD.  The importer is Quintessential Wines.  This was a media sample generously provided by Quintessential.

The music match “Kissing a Fool” by George Michael from the album Faith.

  • Okay, you’ve convinced me, I’ve got to find some Brut Rose for Valentines Day. I’m not a big George Michael fan, but nice effort on the musical pairing! :)

Amazing rose that rivals the French. I love it but it is difficult to find a retail.

  • I enjoyed it. I hadn’t had a South African sparkler before, but I was impressed. You may want to contact Quintessential, they import it for the US, they should be able to tell you which retailers have it on stock in your area. Cheers!

  • Thanks for your comment and your continued support.
Wine Harlots really appreciate your support.
I’m a big fan of sparkling and and of rosé, put them together = perfect!
    No George Michael?
C’mon, he’s perfect for Valentine’s Day mood music.
(Plus it worked with the Pablo Neruda quote.)
    Cheers to you, Josh!
